Technical Assistant at Mediclinic

Position Overview

Mediclinic Welkom is looking for a Technical Assistant to support the maintenance and upkeep of hospital facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. The role focuses on ensuring that buildings and assets remain functional, safe, and well-maintained while providing technical support within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance and technical tasks across hospital buildings and equipment.
Assist in maintaining the condition and functionality of hospital assets.
Support the execution of planned maintenance activities.

Risk and Safety Management

Identify, assess, and help manage risks within the hospital’s technical environment.
Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental standards.
Promote safe work practices in line with hospital policies and procedures.

Administrative Support

Carry out general administrative duties within the Technical Department.
Maintain records and documentation related to maintenance activities and departmental operations.

Stakeholder and Client Service

Establish and maintain positive working relationships with hospital staff, contractors, and service providers.
Deliver professional technical support and customer service to internal stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

Essential Education

Grade 10 or an equivalent technical/vocational qualification.

Preferred Education

Grade 12 (Matric).

Preferred Certification

Valid Code B Driver’s Licence.

Experience Requirements

Essential

No previous work experience is required.
Candidates must demonstrate strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

Advantageous

At least one year of general building maintenance experience.

Required Skills and Knowledge

Understanding of building maintenance and repair practices.
Knowledge of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (OHSE) standards, including OHS and ISO requirements.
Familiarity with Planned Maintenance Systems.
Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to perform general equipment maintenance and repairs.
Good problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
