Role Summary
The Receptionist must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills,
serving as the first point of contact for visitors and patients at the hospital. This role
encompasses the complete admissions process and handling associated queries with
various stakeholders. The Receptionist is responsible for admitting patients into the
hospital, which includes pre-admissions, accurately recording patient information into
the system, and validating the information received during the admission process.
This also involves assisting with various admission systems or web applications,
engaging with patients regarding medical aid rules, benefits, and co-payments to
ensure that the business’s financial risk is adequately managed.

Additionally, the
Receptionist must obtain and appropriately store all necessary documentation. The
Receptionist must ensure that all payments or letters of guarantee are received prior
to admission, obtain and follow up on authorizations required for patient admission,
secure signatures on the relevant documentation, explain terms and conditions, and
maintain patient confidentiality at all times, adhering to governance processes
pertaining to patient dignity and care.

The Receptionist is also responsible for
generating a system receipt for all payments received, ensuring that the receipt
reflects the correct value, method of payment, and the individual making the
payment. Attending to general inquiries and assisting in their resolution in a
professional manner is also part of the role. The Receptionist must maintain and
sustain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.

Inherent Requirements
 Grade 12 matric certificate is essential or equivalent NQF Level 4
Qualification.
 SAP ISH Experience would be advantageous.
 Previous experience in a hospital environment.
 Computer literacy.
 Exceptional Interpersonal communication skills
 Knowledge of medical aid scale of benefits would be advantageous.
