ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING AND IMPACT ASSESSMENT
R272 739 – R473 574 per annum plus benefits (Offer will be based on appropriate and recognizable experience in line with the OSD requirements)
Grade 12 plus an appropriate Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) or National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Natural or Environmental Sciences or Management as recognized by SAQA. Must be in possession of valid driver’s license. Knowledge on Environmental Impact Assessment process, environmental legislation and policies, particularly the National Environmental Management Act, 1998, as amended, and the associated EIA regulations, sound understanding of environmental issues, environmental management and environmental law. Knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following fields would be an advantage: urban and/or rural land development, infrastructure development, environmental management systems and GIS.
Provide expert technical and procedural advice to stakeholders (e.g environmental assessment practitioners, local authorities, international organisations, NGO’s and other state departments) and applicants; reviewing, interpret and evaluate applications and associated documents according to established norms and standards; determine information and procedural requirements for applications; conduct site inspection required by applications;draft/recommend environmental authorisations for submission and decision-making by the relevant delegated authority; quality assure / check draft environmental authorisations and applications submitted by other environmental officers.
