Break-in ends in bloodshed at Kwa Mam’Mkhize’s mansion
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in KwaZulu-Natal is investigating a burglary after a suspect was shot dead at the home of businesswoman and socialite Shauwn Mkhize in Durban today.
Police were dispatched to the crime scene, where Mkhize lived in La Lucia, Durban. after an incident report.
Saps KZN province spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the incident.
Netshiunda said: “North Durban police are investigating a burglary following an incident where three suspects are believed to have broken into a home in La Lucia. He said shots were fired after the owner encountered the intruders.
“The owner of the house is said to have found the suspects in the house and one of the suspects raised a gun and the homeowner fired back. One suspect was injured and the other two are believed to have escaped unharmed,” Netshiunda said.
He added that the injured suspect, who was shot in the leg, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
He said police have yet to determine the reason for the break-in and a gun was found at the scene. Business magnate Mkhize, ex-wife of Sibusiso Mpisane, has a steady foothold in the construction industry. She is also the owner of the PSL Royal AM football club, which is currently chaired by her son, Andile Mpisane, 21. Mkhize became a household name on the reality show Kwa Mam’ Mkhize, where she gave audiences a glimpse into her private life. She is also the author of a book called “My World, My Rules”.
