Position Overview: Warehouse Attendant – Queenstown Depot

AfriSam is seeking Warehouse Attendants to manage various warehouse duties, ensuring efficient handling of cement and other materials. The successful candidates will play an essential role in the daily operations of the depot, from stock management to forklift operation, all while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Loading and Offloading: Safely offload and load palletised cement and bulk materials, ensuring proper weight distribution for vehicles as per traffic road regulations.
  • Stock and Pallet Management: Maintain efficient stacking of products in the yard and keep track of stock.
  • Reporting: Report any breakages, damaged goods, or missing items to management.
  • Product Handling: Ensure the correct type, packaging, and quantity of products are loaded, according to the authority to load.
  • Repacking: Assist with the re-bagging and repacking of cement as per the company’s set procedures.
  • Forklift Operation: Safely operate the forklift to move materials in optimal timeframes, maintaining warehouse efficiency.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards at all times, ensuring a safe working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Requirements:
    • Grade 12 / Amended Senior Certificate / NCV Level 4 / Technical Matric (N3 with 4 technical subjects + 2 official languages).
  • Experience:
    • At least 1 year of experience in a similar role, preferably in a related industry, with experience in operating bulk handling equipment and driving a forklift.
  • Forklift License:
    • A valid 8-ton forklift driver’s license is required.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Forklift Operation: Proficiency in operating forklifts safely and efficiently.
  • Bulk Handling: Strong understanding of operating bulk handling equipment.
  • Pallet Stacking: Knowledge of safe pallet stacking procedures.
  • Safety Standards: A good understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental risks in a warehouse environment.
