JOB DESCRIPTION

The main purpose of this position is to lead the planning, production, quality assurance, cost control, resource management, compliance and timely delivery of print products and services within the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

Detailed description

he successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Develop processes, procedures and guidelines within the Print Production function.
  • Develop own and others’ workplans in line with functional and departmental objectives and manage outputs of team members within the Print Production function.
  • Plan, prioritise and establish work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Issue job cards and allocate work to print production operators.
  • Supervise work and ensure that all printing jobs are delivered on time, meet client requirements and achieve acceptable quality standards at the best possible cost.
  • Approve production cost estimates and review and submit invoices for cost recovery.
  • Implement and monitor metrics to track the progression of each print job through the full workflow, ensuring that every job moves from quotation/job card, approval to production, invoice and cost recovery within the same month.
  • Recommend and implement environmentally sustainable strategies within the print production environment, including the replacement of inefficient machinery and consumables with more sustainable, cost effective and operationally efficient alternatives.
  • Take responsibility for the availability of resources, including budget, equipment maintenance and repairs as well as replacement of equipment as and when needed.
  • Compile and maintain operational data, including production and cost records and prepare production reports for management.
  • Coordinate value chain activities with the Publishing Division.
  • Lead and ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, particularly the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act), including compliance with the related regulations, expected standards and procedures for the efficient and effective completion of tasks by team members.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders’ engagements and relationships.
  • Propose and implement improvements to workflow and the application of processes or standard operating procedures and systems.
  • Manage the performance and development of team members and provide technical guidance and support and motivate team to deliver results.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:

  • a Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Print Technology, Printing Management, Production Management or an equivalent qualification; and
  • five to seven years’ experience in print production or production management, including two to three years in a supervisory or management role.
