JOB TITLE: CCTV Control Room Operators

SALARY GROUP: C1 (Junior Official)

LOCATION: PRASA Corporate (Mabopane,Saulville, Pretoria and Eerste Fabrieke)

DEPARTMENT: Corporate Security

POST NUMBER : TBA

KEY OUTPUT: Responsible for operating and maintaining surveillance equipment, watching for live and recorded video surveillance, footage, reporting suspicious and contracting the authorities when necessary

OUTPUTS:

1. Monitoring, Logging, analysis of security incidents:

o Apply PRASA Standard Operating Procedures in monitoring, responding to incidents, and other security operational requirements, such as that uptime is maximized (of security equipment and operational equipment) and incidents are reducedRecords deficiencies (on posting sheet) and reports to Supervisor, at segment.

o Operate, monitor and prioritize the use of CCTV cameras within PRASA control room in a proactive/reactive manner, to maintain a safe environment for the public.

o To be focused and observant so that whenever they witness something unusual, suspicious or questionable they are able to make detailed note of it.

o Ensure that the surveillance footage is being recorded

2. Maintaining records and ensuring integrity of information

o Ensure the service can offer full integrity, accuracy and confidentiality of all information in accordance with the codes of practice and standard operation procedures in place, whilst seeking to preserve the rights of the individual as enshrined in the constitution

o Gather, analyse, secure, and store control Room data and records o Store DVD-Rs securely in accordance with Data Protection regulations (MISS and National Achieves Act) and maintain the security of the control room environment

3. Security Risk Verification of Stations, Depots and Operational Tunnel:

o Identify and mitigate high-risk threats to reduce risk and asset losses

o Observe the stations, depots and facilities by operating monitors and recording equipment on a 24 hour a day 365 days per year shift pattern including weekends and public holidays as required

o Escalate any incidents and data timeously and appropriately

4. Liaison with all stakeholders:

o Communicate with internal and external officers such as Police, council officers and other agencies by various communication systems to ensure the most appropriate and effective use of the CCTV system. To be contactable throughout the shift.

o Process digital viewing requests from the police including internal investigations and issue evidence packs to the police and other authorized agents for evidential purposes.

o Attend Magistrates Court as a witness if necessary and provide evidence

5. Maintain effective reporting and close-out practices:

o Compile user information reports as authorized

o Provide information for the Supervisor to draw up shift report

o Escalate any important information which may require attention

TRAINING AND KNOWLEDGE:

• PSIRA Grade C with Security Operational Knowledge

• Knowledge of the constitution, Act 108 of 1996

• Criminal Procedure Act, Act 51 of 1977

• Criminal Matters Act, Act 68 of 1998

• National Archives Act, Act 43 of 1996

• Legal Succession Act, Act 38 of 2008

SKILLS:

• Intermediate Skills on MS: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

• Telephone Etiquette

• Communication in English

• Report Writing in English

• Ability to maintain accurate reports and records

CAPABILITIES:

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12
• PSIRA Grade C
• No Criminal Record and/ or pending cases
• 6 months Security Operation Experience
• 1 year Control Room Operations experience
• PSIRA Registration
Added advantage
• Drivers Licence
• CCTV Operators Course and Knowledge of the
Rail Safety Regulator Act, Act 16 of 2002
Special requirement
• The individual must be willing to work shifts.
