Purpose of Position | The job involves geo-scientific investigations in a wide variety of fields: carry mapping, innovative geological research and develop business Participate in local and international geological projects. This includes logistical planning, field mapping and sampling with the principal aims of producing natural resource projects (minerals, energy, and hydrogeology). |
Negotiated Salary | As per CGS determination (24 months) |
Qualifications | BSc Hons (Geology), Valid driverās license |

Generic Key Activities | Conducts investigations or research that may involve mapping, gathering of data, compilation of maps and reports, laboratory analysis work in the Eastern Cape or KwaZulu Natal or LimpopoConducts moderately simple geo-scientific investigations or research under guidance and supervision.Participates in statutory and occasionally commercial projects and publishes research findings internally and or externally.Gives formal scientific or technical presentations of papers or reports, internally and externally with guidance at conferences or symposia.Gives scientific advice to the public and private sector within established guidelines.Ensures that work is conducted within the required ISO standards. |
Key Attributes | Ability to conduct geo-scientific investigations and research with minimal supervision. Ability to present geo-scientific investigations in a written report. Ability to present scientific papers to members of staff or externally. Ability to relate to members of a team and work within a team setting.Must be a field geologist dedicated to Northern Cape research.Must adapt to difficult terrain and situationMust have a knowledge of the Eastern Cape or KwaZulu-Natal or Limpopo (people, country side, habits, language) |
The Council for Geoscience (CGS) is looking for qualified interns to join the organisation for a period of twenty four (24) months in the mentioned business units
