Location: Edendale Lay Ecumencial Center Clinic, Edendale, Pietermaritzburg

Key performance areas:
General cleaning and housekeeping.
Empty all waste bins daily, clean glass doors and mirrors, dust office furniture and equipment.
Safely store cleaning materials.
Serve refreshments at scheduled times.
Ensure Kitchen is always clean (Dishes/Cups/Spoons are washed and neatly packed away) (ILTBRU cups and dishes
only) · Monitor of cleanliness kitchen appliances (Fridge/Microwave/Kettle and toaster)
Stock bathrooms with relevant supplies. (AM & PM)
Dust/Sanitise office furniture and equipment (telephones, light switches, sockets and skirting, computers, white
boards, Printer and shredder ·
Polish/Sanitise Desks/Cupboards/Chairs and tables. ·
Daily sweeping and mopping of assigned floors (AM & PM).
Comply with relevant health and safety policies.
Safely store cleaning materials.
Monitor the usage and stock levels of site groceries and supplies (timely communication before stock levels are low)
Report any defects to ensure health and safety procedures are followed and to enable repairs to be carried out. ·
Report anything in need of ordering/procurement, repair or placement · Perform any other tasks as per duty roster. ·
Cleaning of office windows and fridge every second week.
Setup crockery and refreshments in relevant venues at schedule times.(Boardroom Meetings/trainings)
Tidy and clean areas after meetings and/or events (Boardroom)
Wash crockery and pack it away neatly. ·
Report anything in need of ordering/procurement, repair or replacement to management. ·
Serving Patients with refreshments (AM &PM).


Required minimum education and training:
Grade 12 (Matric) preferred or equivalent (Grade 10)
Basic training in cleaning practices, hygiene, or housekeeping (formal or informal). Training/understanding of infection prevention and control (IPC) principles would be an advantage. Basic food-handling or refreshmentpreparation knowledge is beneficial (not mandatory).

Required minimum work experience:
At least 1 year of experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or general domestic work (office, clinic, or institutional environment preferred).
Experience working in environments requiring high hygiene standards such as clinics, hospitals, laboratories, or offices with sensitive equipment is advantageous.
Experience preparing simple refreshments (tea, coffee, water, light snacks) in a clean, hygienic manner is an
advantage.


Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Ability to perform physical cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, wiping, lifting light items, moving chairs/tables, etc.
Ability to follow a cleaning schedule and work independently with minimal supervision.
Good understanding of safe use of cleaning materials and chemicals. Basic communication and interpersonal skills to interact courteously with staff and participants.
Good attention to detail and ability to maintain clean, organised spaces.
Must maintain strict confidentiality, as work takes place in a clinical research environment. Must follow all infection control and clinic hygiene protocols consistently.
Must be punctual, reliable, trustworthy, and able to work as part of a professional research team.
Must be willing to assist with participant refreshment preparation and maintaining a welcoming waiting area. Must report facility or maintenance concerns promptly.
Must be willing to work onsite full-time and occasionally support clinic activities outside standard duties when needed.
