Job Description
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- NQF Level 4 National Certificate qualification in:
- Water Treatment; or Wastewater Treatment; or a relevant engineering field (with water-related modules)
- Equivalent occupational qualification registered with EWSETA
- DWS Classification Certificate (Class IV OR above as required by Regulation 3630)
- Valid code EB or C Driver’s License
- Minimum 3-4 years relevant Water Treatment Experience.
- Computer Literacy.
- Technical Report writing skills.
- Problem Solving Skills.
- Basic Knowledge of Health and Safety Standard.
- Team Player.
- Knowledge of treatment plants and pump stations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that the quantity of water treated meets the demand.
- Assume full responsibility for treatment process whilst on shift duty.
- Desludging performed when required.
- Backwash of filters as and when required.
- Calculation of chemical dosages and the recording thereof.
- Adjust chemical dosages according to raw water flow and Turbidity
- Operation of pump station & Pressurizing of the pumping lines when necessary
- Manage reservoir levels.
- Change of chlorine cylinders.
- Ensure uninterrupted Service Delivery
- Ensure 90% work attendance and completion of daily shift.
- Proactive problem solving.
- Compilation of production, chemical, daily occurrence & incident reports.
- Monitoring Dam Levels.
- Adhere to Health & Safety standards in all plants, handling of hazardous chemicals and pump stations.
- Perform Laboratory Routine tests on operational parameters that meet SANS241:2025.
- Any reasonable and relevant duties as assigned from time to time.

Location: Bloemfontein
Purpose of the Position
Vaal Central Water invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for the above strategic position within the Supply Chain Management (SCM) environment. The incumbent will provide leadership and oversight of contract management, SCM risk management, and supplier performance management, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, strengthening governance, and enhancing organisational efficiency.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Contract Management and Governance
– Manage the full lifecycle of contracts and SLAs
– Ensure compliance with legislation and policies
– Maintain contract registers and documentation
– Monitor performance, penalties, and renewals
- Supply Chain Risk Management
– Identify and mitigate SCM risks
– Monitor and report risks regularly
– Investigate irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure

Minimum Requirements
– Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Law or a related field
– Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) will be a distinct advantage
– Professional certification (CIPS, CIMA, CA(SA), ACCA or equivalent) will be advantageous
– Minimum 5–8 years’ relevant experience, including:
- Contract management
- SCM governance, compliance, or risk management
- At least 3 years at a supervisory or middle management level
– Valid Code B driver’s licence

Job Description
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- An appropriate 3-year National Degree/Diploma in Public Management, Finance or Supply Chain Management.
- Minimum of 5 years Supply Chain experience.
- Competent in MS Office.
- Understanding of SCM processes and legislative framework.
- Report writing skills.
- Valid Drivers’ License.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the process of consolidating the demand and procurement plan for the Entity, monitoring the implementation as well as reporting to National Treasury in line with the budget and strategic objective of the Entity.
- Acquire Goods and services within the contracted targets and timelines.
- Conduct market analysis and advise on the best approach to the market.
- Assist user departments with briefing sessions and site inspections where necessary.
- Attend and resolve any procurement of goods and services queries timely.
- Assist in identifying high-usage items for the conclusion of high-value contracts.
- Conclude the drafting of specifications, SOP, MOU and give input into the procurement process report on all Demand Management activities to the relevant structures internally and externally.
- Serve as a secretariat to all the committees (Bid Specification, Bid Evaluation and Bid Adjudication).
- Regularly update the database of RFQ Schedule/ Bid schedules.
- Performing any other duties as delegated by the respective supervisors and managers within the SCM environment.
- Management of human resources.
- Responsible for maintaining a positive culture within the SCM section which includes change management initiatives, innovation, conflict resolution and mitigating risks that could negatively affect the organizational culture.
- Assist in all internal and external audit processes.
- Ensure compliance to confidentiality statements.
- Ensure that all procurement documents are timeously and accurately filed in SharePoint
- Observe all Health and Safety protocols and procedures.
