Job Title Systems Accountant (C4)
(Position based in Head Office: Pretoria)
Reports to Senior Manager: Finance
Act as an interface between the Finance team and IT department. Responsible for developing the accounting system, related
financial processes, reviewing existing financial systems and design the most efficient and effective way to meet changing
needs of Postbank.


A Systems Accountant can perform a wide range of duties. These may include, but are not limited to:
• Reviewing systems performance and identifying system issues
• Managing system upgrades with the IT department
• Designing and implementing internal system controls (preventative and detective) to provide quality assurance over
financial data
• Reviewing and maintaining all financial systems policies and procedures
• Collaborating with IT and financial staff to meet business requirements
• Troubleshooting and fixing finance related system issues
• Training and supporting finance team members in the use of financial systems and procedures
• Working with the IT team to design delivery schedules of systems development
• Working with business intelligence software
• Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to review and design Finance & Procurement system workflows to
ensure that systems remain efficient and meet operational needs whilst maintaining robust internal controls.
• Work closely with the Finance & Procurement and ICT teams to plan, manage and support system upgrades and
implementations including:
o Supporting the development of business case proposals and
o project plans
o Manage functional testing for development or upgrade activities
o Documenting processes and procedures
o Providing specialist and organisation-wide training and support as identified.

Skills &

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors’ Degree in commerce/business/accounting or IT (NQF 7)
• 4-5 years ‘experience in Systems development and finance systems in a banking environment
• Broad experience and knowledge of accounting systems
• Experience working in projects
Knowledge and understanding of:
• The Banks / Postbank Act
• Risk & compliance management
• Financial management

Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Experience in communicating and influencing senior stakeholders,
Ability to collaborate and train other finance staff, Advanced computer software skills, including Excel macros and
other accounting packages, Able to interact well with diverse people across multiple functions, Fast learner, Analytical
