JOB PURPOSE: To manage and supervise the entry and exit of patrons at all entrances at
the Zoo on a daily basis inclusive of gate takings at the Zoo. To ensure that all pay points are
manned at all times and also ensure that all gate takings are banked timeously. Administer
accurate control sheets for reconciliation purposes to uphold the integrity of financial reporting.
Compile accurate visitors report and submit to the Finance Officer. The Zoo operates on a 7-day
a week basis.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Operational duties: Management of the daily float: count float and issue to all cashiers; record
in the Float Book; ensure that each cashier sign in the float book • Record cashier’s money and
lock in the safe • Ensure that all cash and reconciliations are done daily • Record variations in
the variation sheet • Ensure that the parking machine is operational at all times • Ensure that
speed points machines are operational at all times • Collect and deliver of documentation to
Accounts Receivable on time • Conduct spot checks on the cashiers daily • Ensure training for
all staff on any new systems is implemented • Attend to difficult visitors • Ensure all cashiers are
well informed about Zoo operations and any marketing of the Zoo to inform and answer queries
from the public • Ensure all SOP’s relating to cashiers are reviewed annually, implemented
and monitored for compliance • Ensure all customer information is correctly treated as per the
POPI act • Implement measures to reduce and eliminate any losses of revenue • Ensure that
deadlines are met • Ensure that the Financial System is constantly available and operational
Keep adequate float to ensure high level service delivery • Ensure that a clean audit is achieved
Ensure that all pay points are always manned during working hours • Ensure that all daily gate
takings are processed with regards to approved tariff schedules of the organisation • Accurate
account coding • Ensure that all cashiers have sufficient float amount • Ensure that cashiers are
accompanied by Security Officers when carrying cash in the Zoo • Ensure that all documentation
required by the finance department are handed over AR daily • Ensure that all cashiers are well
trained, dressed in uniform and appearance is professional • Ensure the cashier offices are neat
and tidy • Ensure the availability of all resources used by the cashiers • Ensure that daily taking
are deposited daily and a deposit slip is attached to the reconciliation sheet.
Optimise individual and team performance: Performance Management • Actively participate
and manage own performance levels • Contributes to team effectiveness and cohesion
Ensure all cashiers understand their customer relations obligations, dress codes and general
demeanour • Ensure cashiers are well trained in required security matters concerning assets
and revenue of JCPZ.
Manage Risk: Implement identified risk mitigation measures within training sessions • Train
staff on the operational procedures (SHEQ & EMS) • Ensure compliance of Department through
policy and procedure adherence.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: • Matric/ Grade 12 • Diploma in Financial Accounting or
Customer Service or equivalent NQF level 5 qualification • 5 year relevant work experience Driver’s license.
