Gauteng Department of Health x195 EPWP Vacancies 2026

The Gauteng Department of Health, through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP),
has officially opened applications for 195 fixed-term contract positions across health facilities in
the Johannesburg Health District.

Applications close on 11 January 2026, and late applications will not be considered.
These opportunities are aimed at previously disadvantaged and unemployed South Africans
who have never benefited from EPWP before.
Positions Available Under EPWP 2026
Administration Clerks (85 Posts)


Minimum Requirements
Certified Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent
Certification stamp not older than 6 months
Good verbal and written communication skills


Key Duties:
Typing, scanning, printing, filing, stapling and copying
Capturing meeting minutes and registry services
Data capturing, record keeping and document tracking
Completing forms and administrative documents
Supporting supervisors with daily office tasks
This role is ideal for candidates interested in administration, office work, or government clerical
careers.


Cleaners (80 Posts)
Minimum Requirements
Certified school report or qualification (stamp not older than 6 months)
Basic communication skills
Key Duties
Cleaning offices, clinics and health facilities
Sweeping, mopping, polishing and dusting
Window cleaning and furniture care
Waste disposal and disinfecting designated areas
Maintaining cleaning supplies stock
This is a strong entry point into healthcare support services, facilities management, and EPWP
work experience.


Groundskeepers (30 Posts)
Minimum Requirements
Certified school report or equivalent
Good communication skills


Key Duties
Lawn mowing, weeding, watering and fertilising
Maintaining gardens, walkways and pavements
Tree cutting and trimming
Removing litter and general outdoor upkeep
Best suited for candidates interested in landscaping, municipal services, or environmental
maintenance.


Who Is Eligible to Apply?
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
South African citizen
Currently unemployed
No criminal record
Resident within the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality
Lives close to the health facility applied for
Proof of residence required
Must not have previously benefited from EPWP
Applicants who have worked under EPWP before are not eligible.

All applications must follow the official government process.
Step 1: Complete the NEW Z83 Form
Download and complete the new Z83 application form
Step 2: Prepare Supporting Documents


Attach the following:
Recently updated CV
Certified copy of South African ID
Certified copies of qualifications or school reports
Proof of residence
All certifications must be within the last 6 months.


Step 3: Indicate Preferred Facility
Clearly indicate your nearest health facility on the Z83 form
Step 4: Submit via Email Only
