FACULTY OF ARTS AND HUMANITIES

GRADE 11

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities  at the University of the Western Cape seeks to produces graduates of the highest calibre. The Faculty Administration office plays a key role in supporting the academic programme and providing administrative excellence. We are currently seeking a self-motivated, committed, competent, suitably qualified and experienced individual for this key appointment.

Reporting to the Faculty Manager, the appointee will be responsible for:

  • Arranging committee meetings
  • Providing procedural advice to committees
  • Writing of agendas, committee minutes and reports
  • Ensuring expedient communication of governance decisions
  • Archiving of documents
  • Ensuring a schedule of meetings is prepared annually
  • Ensuring compliance with statutes and terms of reference (standing orders)
  • Liaison with internal and external committee members

Further to the duties mentioned above, the appointee will assist with the following as the need arises:

  • Academic Administration
  • Marks Administration
  • Enquiry Management
  • Marketing and Recruitment
  • Meeting and General Office Administration
  • HR Administration
  • Financial Administration

Minimum Requirements

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; 
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience in a Higher Education environment

Preferred requirements:

  • Committee administration experience advantageous
  • Proficiency in computer programmes/software packages e.g. Word, Excel /MS Office Suiters/PowerPoint and UWC systems such as MAS and SASI
