All identified candidates on Salary Level 11 and above will furthermore undergo a competency assessment,
which applies transversally across the Public Service. All recommended candidates, irrespective of the

POST NO 3 : SENIOR LEGAL ADMINISTRATION OFFICER: LITIGATION, (5 POSITIONS) REF NO: HRMC 24/20/3


SALARY : R473 820 to R1 140 828, negotiable in accordance with the Occupational
Specific Dispensation (OSD) for Legally Qualified Personnel
CENTRE : Head Office, Pretoria, Branch: Legal Services, Directorate: Litigation.


REQUIREMENTS :

• An LLB Degree or a 4 year’ tertiary qualification in Laws as recognized by SAQA

• 8 years’ relevant
experience in legal services

• 3-5 years’ practical experience in Court appearances in the litigation
environment, with proven success rate

• Admission as an attorney or advocate is required

• Knowledge of
the South African Constitution, Public Service Regulations Act, Public Finance Management Act,
Immigration Act and Refugees Act

• Understanding of departmental legislation as well as Human Resource
legislations and prescripts

• Problem solving and analysis

• Negotiation, presentation and interpersonal
skills

• Business report writing, planning and organising

• Communication, honesty and integrity


Influencing and networking

• Decision making skills

• A valid drivers’ licence, willingness to travel
extensively and work extended hours occasionally.


DUTIES : The successful candidate will be responsible for, amongst others, the following specific tasks:
• Analyse litigation trends

• Reduction of litigation, cutting of costs, alignment of policies to legislations •Advice on policy implementation

• Feedback from line function, less litigation of policy is consistent with the
constitution and common law

• Provide legal advice/ opinion

• Report and provide feedback from line
functions, clear execution of such opinion by line functions and less litigation

• Cost effective measures on
courts orders that do not impact negatively on the departmental litigation and service delivery

•Investigating queries emanating from the implementation of legislation • Interpretation and case law
application

• Develop and implementation of policy and procedure, directives, acts and regulations

•Develop and review communications policies and code of practice for the directorate

• Implement
governance processes, frameworks and procedures

• Ensure compliance with all audit requirements,
quality and risk management frameworks, standards and procedures

• Monitor and ensure compliance with
legislation, regulations and Departmental policies and procedures

• Plan the production of annual reports in
line with corporate strategy

• Manage physical resources

• Monitor and report on the utilization of
equipment

• Co-ordinate memorandum of understanding, Service Level Agreements and expenditure
review.
