Requirements :
Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification. Tertiary degree in Health Promotion or other relevant health qualification will be an added advantage. A minimum working experience of 3-5 years in the health sector as a Health Promotion Practitioner. A valid driver’s License. Be flexible to work in any Sub-District within JHB District. Experience working with communities and all other relevant stakeholders. Strong time management organizational skills including analysis and problem solving and the ability to manage multiple and competing demand. Experience in raising health awareness on prevention health related issues. Ability to mobilization and/ or community strengthening. Experience in the delivery of oral presentations and training. Be computer literacy.
Duties :
Be able to articulate Ottawa Charter Health Promotion strategies. Participate in the Planning, development, coordinate, and implementing of health promotion interventions. Support the following District Health Programs; Maternal and Child Health, School Health, HIV/AIDS/TB, Nutrition, Environmental Health, EPI, Public Health, and other stakeholders. Create a demand plan that will address the needs of health promotion in the sub-district. Contribute and lead the sub-district health awareness campaigns through intersectoral collaboration. Analyze and understand local behavior and/or practices to adapt health activities to the target group (support social mapping, use of specific tools to measure and follow up activities). Monitor and evaluate allocation of resources for Health Promotion. Promote District Health services according to principles protocols and standards with the aim of increasing the knowledge of the target population in relation to their health access. Develop and manage IEC materials according to the needs of the Sub-District. Liaise with other relevant stakeholders to enhance HP interventions in the sub district. Manage, train, and supervise the HP team in the Sub District through activities such as recruitment, defining job descriptions, capacity building, briefing / debriefing, and evaluation of HP team Members. Lead implementation of HPS, ISHP, IMCI and support WBOPHCT. Ensure timely reporting to the Health Promotion manager on health promotion activities. Monitoring and evaluation of Health Promotion activities within the health facilities.
