Job Description:
- Preparation of Civil / structural engineering technical aspects relating to underground SIB.
- Provide engineering construction support to Superintendent projects: civil / structural / mechanical.
- Implementation of relevant civil / structural project initiatives in accordance with the SIB master project plan over the life of mine.
- Implementation of civil / structural engineering efforts to meet DeBeers Group and Anglo-American standards, specifications, and procedures throughout the Life of Mine (LOM).
- Support successful project delivery within cost and schedule baselines.
- Maintain and ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
- Demonstrate corporate values, code of business & conduct.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable SHE policies and procedures.
- Adhere to legislative & corporate compliance requirements.
- Ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure.
- Assist in compiling relevant costing for the purchase of relevant equipment (where required).
- Civil & structural engineering activities based on relevant construction requirements taking specific materials requirements into account.
- Understanding & knowledge of structural erections e.g., torque settings, back markings, drawing detail, survey alignment, civil / structural engineering drawings.
- Ensure compliance with document control standards and procedures as well as quality of documentation, drawings and associated metadata.
- Implementation of project designs
- Application of engineering process methodology and implementation of project standards
- Enforcing quality management
- Budget control with Package Manager
- Schedule implementation & progress reporting
- Method statements, Risk assessments & Contract management
Qualifications:
- National Diploma in Civil & Structural with Minimum of 5 years’ experience (Civil / Structural Engineering & Construction) or in a similar environment
- Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers License
Role-specific knowledge & Experience:
- Experience with Mine shafts, & underground construction, preferred.
- Draughtsman experience
- Construction / Engineering project management
- MS Word, excel, powerpoint, computer aided design & drafting systems.
- Knowledge of drafting techniques
- Understanding engineering & construction theory & standards
- Communication & problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail. • Planning & organizing skills.
Additional information:
- Be prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, callouts and work overtime as per the role requirements
- Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground
- The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric assessments and a clear security clearance
