Artisan Welder at TUT
The Directorate of Building and Estates in the Department of Technical Services have an
external position of Artisan (Welder).
INSTRUCTIONS:
Applicants are required to submit, together with the CVs, a fully
completed standardized application form available from the university intranet as well as
recently certified copies of qualifications and Identity Document. Failure to comply with
this instruction will disqualify the candidate. Candidates may be subjected to appropriate
psychometric testing and other selection instruments
Key performance areas/Core functions:
To provide an effective routine and breakdown plumbing maintenance service at all sites.
To assist in breakdown maintenance
To assist in preventative maintenance
To assist in identifying and rectifying faults
To provide reasonable knowledge of relevant OHS act.
Minimum requirements:
Academic qualifications:
A relevant completed apprenticeship or a proof of passing trade test in terms of
the provision of section 13(2) of Manpower Training Act, 1981, as amended or a
certificate issued under the provision of section 28 or 30 of the Manpower Act,
1981.
Or
Trade Test Certificate plus 3 years’ experience

Experience:
A minimum of 2 (two) years’ relevant experience as an Apprentice Artisan
welder.

Remain up to date with new plumbing development

Other special Requirements:
Valid driver’s license
Physical Fitness (Assessment)
