PROGRAMME INFORMATION
Programme: Sport for Social Change Network Programme
Duration: Six (6) Months
Number of Opportunities: Ten (10) Programme Participants
Programme Location: Gauteng Province
Successful participants will be placed either within the Gauteng Film Commission or with approved host organisations operating within the film,
television and creative industries.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The Gauteng Film Commission (GFC), an entity of the Gauteng Provincial Government under the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation (DSACR), in
partnership with the Sports for Social Change Network (SSCN), invites applications from suitably qualified and unemployed young people to participate in the Sport
for Social Change Network Programme.
The SSCN Programme is a youth development initiative designed to provide unemployed young people with meaningful workplace experience, practical skills
development, community service exposure and professional development opportunities.
Over and above receiving broad and valuable professional work experience and skills, participants will contribute to community-based sport, arts, culture, recreation
and creative-industry initiatives. Placements will expose participants to real work environments within the Gauteng Film Commission and approved host organisations,
enabling them to develop technical, administrative, creative and interpersonal skills while contributing to programmes that promote community participation, healthy
lifestyles, social cohesion, youth development, heritage preservation and digital inclusion.

Service Opportunity Minimum Qualification
- General Support Services Non-Graduate Intern X 2 Grade 12 (Matric) or N6 (TVET Theory) in Office Administration, Public Administration or a
related field - Creative and Design Graduate Intern X1 Diploma, or Degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia, Film and Television Production, Media Studies,
or a related field - General Office Administration Graduate Intern X 2 Degree/Diploma in Business/Office Administration, Public Administration, Human Resource
Management, Financial Management or a related field - Film and Television Production Graduate Intern X5 Diploma, or Degree in Film and Television Production, Media Studies, or a related field
SERVICE DESCRIPTIONS
Service Opportunity Service Description - Community Outreach and Event
Support
Assist with sport, arts, culture, and recreation events such as fun walks, school sports, and festivals. Responsibilities include
event coordination, participant registration, logistical support, and assisting with community awareness campaigns. - Community Access and Information
Support
Provide administrative support at public service points such as libraries and community centres. Assist members of the
public with information, maintain records, and support community stakeholders. - Creative Design – Community
Awareness Content
Produce digital content for public awareness campaigns, including social media graphics, promotional videos, posters, and
infographics to enhance community engagement. - Creative Design – Documentation of
Community Stories and Heritage
Capture and document community heritage, culture, and success stories through photography, videography, video editing,
and content development to support heritage preservation initiatives. - Film and Television Production –
Community Sport, Recreation and Event
Documentation
Document sport and recreation programmes through filming, footage logging, basic video editing, and producing highlight
videos for promotional and reporting purposes. - Film and Television Production – Arts,
Culture and Heritage Storytelling
Support arts, culture, and heritage programmes through audiovisual storytelling, including filming performances,
conducting interviews, and producing promotional multimedia content. - Film and Television Production – Youth
and Social Behaviour Change Content
Develop educational and awareness media that promote positive social behaviour, youth development, healthy lifestyles,
disability inclusion, and community participation.

Support
Support community communication initiatives through photography, videography, social media content creation, digital
media production, and media file management.
ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must:
✓ Be a South African citizen.
✓ Be between 18 and 35 years old.
✓ Be unemployed, currently and previously not on another fully funded government programme (e.g. Government-funded internships, NSFAS, etc). NB: Kindly
note that being on this programme will not prevent you from applying for NSFAS for future studies.
✓ Reside in Gauteng and be willing to work at any approved site.
✓ Be available for the full six-month programme.
Minimum Educational Requirements:
✓ Graduate Participants: National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6+) in a relevant field (e.g., Film, Media, Design, Admin and Finance).
✓ TVET Participants: N6 Certificate requiring Workplace Integrated Learning (WIL) on relevant qualifications listed above.
✓ School Leaver Participants: Grade 12 (Matric) with a demonstrated interest in the creative or community sectors.
PROGRAMME CONDITIONS
Successful participants will be required to:
✓ Attend all induction and orientation sessions.
✓ Participate fully in workplace learning and community service.
✓ Comply with all GFC policies and the Code of Conduct.
✓ Maintain satisfactory attendance, conduct, and performance.
