About the Opportunity
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), through the National Skills Fund (NSF), invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Handyman on a 24-month contract basis. The successful candidate will provide general maintenance, facilities support, and office assistance services to ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of NSF facilities and assets.
Minimum Requirements
- ABET qualification or Grade 10.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated honesty, reliability, and accountability.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour and physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance and Facilities Support
- Perform routine maintenance and general support services within the office environment.
- Prepare office spaces and workstation arrangements for new employees as requested.
- Assist with the movement, loading, and unloading of furniture, office equipment, and other goods.
- Support waste management and disposal activities.
- Report electrical faults and maintenance issues to the supervisor for escalation to the landlord where necessary.
- Assist with cleaning and housekeeping activities when required.
- Provide general office and property maintenance support to ensure facilities remain functional and presentable.
- Safeguard and maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
