Position: Brand and Communications Assistant

Business Unit: Barloworld Corporate Office

Location: Sandton/Meadowdale

Reporting to: Executive Brand and Communication: Consumer Industries

Overview: Job purpose and deliverables

Core purpose of the role

Offering support to the Brand and Communication executive in building, managing, and protecting the Barloworld and Ingrain Brand with all stakeholders. The position entails support in terms of Internal Communication, Digital and Social Media Strategy, Events, Branding and Marketing, Special Projects, Divisional support, and general admin.

Key deliverables and outputs

Internal communication

  • Produce and update all internal branding and communication collateral
  • Liaise with suppliers in developing collateral
  • Facilitate and manage communication plans and campaigns to internal stakeholders
  • Development, sending and reporting on internal communications and newsletters
  • Project management on various cross- functional and divisional workstream projects and events
  • Channel and platform management such as intranet, communication systems and more

External communication and corporate brand and marketing

  • Ensure brand alignment and consistency across divisions, channels and elements
  • Create knowledge libraries – photo gallery, video archive library and group calendar of events
  • Source all required branding and promotional items
  • Ensure the corporate website, social media and all other relevant channels are up to date
  • Ensure that the Barloworld corporate identity is implemented correctly across the group
  • Update the on-hold company messages and any other brand related elements
  • Online community management and reputation management of the Barloworld Group to increase sentiments and brand awareness.
  • Work closely with partners and agencies on the planning and implementation of communication strategies and campaigns across various channels
  • Story telling and content development

Event Management

  • Offer support in the planning and execution of various group and corporate office events.

General administration

  • Update and maintain department project status report
  • Attending to service provider queries in consultation with team
  • Handle all invoicing and administration as well as update the budget report periodically
  • Ensure up to date management of all marketing and communication collateral and stock-taking
  • Manage website queries and Groupmarcomms and other relevant email boxes and where necessary, channel communication to relevant and appropriate personnel within the group
  • Manage Executive diary
  • Follow up and manage suppliers and projects
  • Assist with general admin and requests by direct and indirect reports

Academic qualifications
Essential:An undergraduate degree/diploma qualification in marketing and communication/administration

Core purpose of the role

To ensure that the company’s strategy, implementation progress, financial performance and overall performance against targets is appropriately and strategically positioned with shareholders, analysts, investors, and other key stakeholders for stakeholder confidence and reputational management.

Job Objectives/Key Responsibilities

Strategic / Financial

  • Enable the most effective two-way communication between Barloworld, the financial community, and other constituencies to achieving fair valuation.
  • Develop appropriate strategy, framework, and tactics, as well as provide a very compelling investor relations strategy implementation roadmap.
  • Develop investor confidence and belief in the company’s vision and strategy for delivering shareholder value.
  • Build a responsive, efficient and proactive world class investor relations function, with appropriate processes, resources and practices.

External communication and corporate brand and marketing

  • Create knowledge libraries – photo gallery, video archive library and group calendar of events
  • Source all required branding and promotional items, make recommendations and ensure maintenance thereof
  • In consultation with the communication team negotiate pricing and manage the approval process of branded collateral from start to completion
  • Initiate engagements with divisional communication champions at appropriate intervals in sourcing internal product branding and manage the branding roster.
  • Ensure the corporate and investor website is up to date with content in consultation the communication and content management team
  • Ensure that the Barloworld corporate identity (which includes all material which reflects the Barloworld logo) is implemented correctly guided by the communication manager
  • Update the on-hold company message quarterly

Operational

  • Create and manage a strong reputation by demonstrating consistent, clear and accurate communication of company affairs as well as optimising communication, engagements, relationship management and intelligence gathering.
  • Provide insights on market activity and present them to the leadership team.
  • Analyse and present financial trends, competitor behaviour, shareholder issues, and anything else that could impact the business.
  • Lead and manage the results announcements process, roadshow, conference attendance and conference calls.
  • Work with legal counsel to ensure compliance on regulatory matters.
  • Help prepare the company’s Annual Report and work closely with Company Secretariat and the Group FD.
  • Be aware of changing regulatory requirements and advise the company on what can and cannot be done.
  • Create and cement trust as well as management credibility in the market.

Stakeholders (internal & external customers, suppliers, shareholders, communities)

  • Manage equity research.
