Requirements :

Grade10 or equivalent /Grade 12 or equivalent. Knowledge of: clerical duties, as well as the ability to capture data, operate a computer (Microsoft Office package), Information Communication Technology procedures relating to Service Desk working environment including norms and standards. Planning and organising reporting procedures. How to do basic research/ gather information. Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations and relevant prescripts, Skills Development Act, Basic Condition of Employment Acts, Policies and procedures, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Employment Equity Act, Batho Pele Principles, Constitution of South Africa. Skills: Mathematical skills, Organising, Ability to perform routine tasks, Basic interpersonal relationship, Communication, Presentation, People Management, Records Management Skills, Problem solving Maintaining discipline, Formulation and editing, be prepared to rotate and work shifts. Good telephone etiquette, Ability to work independently and in a team, Ability to organize and plan, must be self-motivated. High level of reliability, Ability to handle confidential information and documents, Ability to act with discretion. The following will be an added advantage: Grade 12 or equivalent with 2 to 5 years’ experience. National Higher Certificate in ICT (NQF 5) as recognized by SAQA, must have one year working experience in ICT environment (Email systems, Active Directory, Internet, and software applications etc.), Service Desk or Contact Centre experience.


Duties :

Follow standard ICT service Desk procedures. Log incidents and requests on the IT Service Management (ITSM) system from incoming telephone calls, emails and walk ins. Assign and escalate the logged incidents and requests to relevant parties (e.g. technicians). Log all Service desk interactions. Provide first line technical support and resolve problems to user’s satisfaction. Assist users with relevant ICT Service Desk administration services (email requests, ESS applications, MEDICOM account creation and addition of roles). Conduct user satisfaction surveys. Log e-maintenance service calls accordingly. Track and route problems and document resolutions. Keep abreast with ICT information systems, changes, and updates. Support and provide guidance to clients.

The Curriculum Vitae should be recently updated that specifies the following: All experience should be in a chronological order indicating the position, institution and respective dates indicating the starting and ending period (DD/MM/YYYY). The information on the new Z83 must be in sync with the Curriculum Vitae. Only shortlisted candidates will be required/requested to submit certified copies of qualifications and other relevant documents on or before the interview.

Personnel Suitability Checks (PSC) –Verification (Reference checks- Provide at least 3 and must be contactable, the Department shall reserve the right to conduct verification beyond names provided, where necessary. Failure to submit all the relevant information preceding the statement above will result in disqualifying the candidate. Identity verification, qualifications verification, criminal record checks, credit/financial stability checks and employment verification. Candidates in possession of a foreign qualification must furnish the Department with an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) (Only when shortlisted).
