The Eastern Cape Department of Transport (ECDOT), in its endeavour to boost the number of Traffics in the province is looking for qualifying unemployed youth residing in the Eastern Cape to enrol on the Diploma in Traffic. The department will offer bursaries to qualifying candidates. The successful candidates will be required to undergo a training program that runs for a period of one (1) year. As such, they will be required to enter into a one (1) year bursary contract with the Department of Transport. The training program will take place in the Eastern Cape Province and in Kwa-Zulu Natal Province. The bursary will cover for the costs of accommodation, meals, study material, uniform will be provided to successful candidates. Candidates must be prepared and committed to participate and complete the duration of the programme. The main focus of the programme will be on Traffic field and Traffic Law enforcement and Road Safety information. These will include attending classes as well as field related training.

To qualify for the NQF Level 5 Trainee Traffic Officer Program applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Passed Grade 12 or equivalent (No specific subjects needed).
  • No criminal records.
  • Code B driving License (manual transmission).
  • Applicants shall not be older than 35 years of age.
  • Must reside within the Eastern Cape Province (Proof of Residence must be attached).
