About FAIS Ombud
The Office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers (FAIS Ombud) was established in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 37 of 2002. The organisation is mandated to resolve complaints against financial services providers in a fair, accessible, cost-effective, informal, and impartial manner, guided by principles of equity and justice.
FAIS Ombud is seeking an experienced and innovative Human Resource Specialist to join its Human Resources Department. Based in Pretoria, this role focuses on Organisation Development and Talent Management and reports directly to the Head of Human Resources.
Position Purpose
The Human Resource Specialist will be responsible for driving organisational development, talent management, and change management initiatives across the organisation. The role will support strategic human capital objectives by enhancing organisational effectiveness, improving employee engagement, strengthening succession planning, and facilitating the successful implementation of change initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Organisational Development and Talent Management
- Support organisation-wide talent management, succession planning, and employee retention strategies.
- Contribute to organisational development initiatives aimed at improving overall effectiveness and performance.
- Provide guidance and support to management and employees on performance management and development processes.
- Assist in the development, review, and enhancement of HR policies, procedures, and practices.
- Support the development and updating of job profiles and job specifications.
- Coordinate and implement benchmarking initiatives to improve HR practices and organisational performance.
- Drive and support talent management programmes across the organisation as directed by the Head of HR.
Change Management
- Lead and coordinate change management activities within established frameworks and methodologies.
- Support the execution of the organisation’s people strategy and change management portfolio.
- Assess organisational readiness for change and identify potential risks associated with change initiatives.
- Develop recommendations to mitigate change-related risks and improve adoption outcomes.
- Support employee training, communication, and engagement activities associated with change programmes.
- Identify and manage resistance to change at individual, process, and technology levels.
- Conduct post-implementation evaluations to assess the effectiveness and impact of change initiatives.
HR Projects and Strategic Support
- Prepare HR project reports and recommendations for review and approval by the Head of Human Resources.
- Coordinate the implementation of internal and external audit recommendations.
- Lead or participate in assigned HR projects, particularly those related to organisational development and change management.
- Perform general HR administration and project-related activities as required.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in:
- Human Resource Management; or
- A related field.
Experience
- More than five years of experience in Human Resource Management.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Organisational Development
- Talent Management
- Change Management
- Employee Engagement
Added Advantages
- Professional registration with recognised bodies such as:
- South African Board for People Practices (SABPP)
- Institute of People Management (IPM)
- Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP)
- Experience working with HR information systems and related technologies.
Knowledge and Technical Competencies
The successful candidate should possess:
- Sound knowledge of Human Resource policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Thorough understanding of South African labour legislation, including:
- Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
- Labour Relations Act (LRA)
- Skills Development Act (SDA)
- Employment Equity Act (EEA)
- Knowledge of people management standards and frameworks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital HR tools.
- Strong organisational development and change management expertise.
