Responsible for assisting the holder of the blasting certificate (miner) in exercising control over the explosives to be used for blasting.

Job Description

Assist the holder of the blasting certificate (Miner) in carrying out duties and responsibilities within your area of responsibility.

Comply with Health and Safety regulations in regard to the Explosives Act.

Receive, store and issue explosives and accessories

Assist the miner in the preparation of primers

Charge shot holes

Assist the miner with final connections and timing blast rounds

Job Requirements

Grade 9 or equivalent ABET Level 4

Certificate of Competency for Blasting Assistants (U/G), MQA accredited

Competent B Certificate advantageous

Must be able to obtain a Certificate of Fitness to work in Mines if successful

Minimum 1 year’s operational experience as a Blasting or Miner’s Assistant

Clear criminal record
