Controller Shaft Boxes

Minimum Required Qualification:

Key Responsibilities:
  • The SHAFT CONTROLLER reports to the shaft foreman. The incumbent is responsible for the co- ordination of shafts hoisting systems, which includes the unblocking of blockages/ restrictions in chutes, & ore passes. Shaft Controller will be responsible for the blasting operations when required to open blocked chutes and ore passes.
  • This role is responsible for the safe handling and storage of underground explosives.
  • Daily inspection of the silos, vibrating feeders and chutes.
  • Blasting of big rocks to unblock Plant loading boxes, bins and/or shaft ore-pass.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mining Risk Mangement: Contribute to the management of risk within own field of expertise. Assess Mining risk and incorporate mitigating controls. Maintain and update the Mining component of risk register.

Minimum Required Qualification:

Financial Management • Managing the finances of the Division to achieve Organisational objectives. Working Cost Budgets: • Setting and approving budgeting parameters for the Division in line with business requirements and financial objectives. • Approving operational expenditure. • Formulating monthly and annual budgets. Cost Savings: • Leading and driving cost saving and cash conservation initiatives. • Remaining competitive on the global cost curve for surface operations. Metallurgist X2

Minimum Required Qualification:
  • NQF 7 Bachelor’s degree / B-Tech in Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering with at least 2 years’ Plant experience in a Metallurgical Plant and completed Graduate Development Programme
  • NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate for Adults) with at least 5 years’ Plant experience in a Metallurgical Plant as an Assistant Supervisor,
The Appointee should:
  • NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent) with at least 5 years’ Plant experience in a Metallurgical Plant as an Assistant Supervisor, OR NQF 7 (Bachelor’s degree / B-Tech) in Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering with at least 2 years’ Plant experience in a Metallurgical Plant and completed Graduate Development Programme
  • Have knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Metal Accounting Code (AMIRA) and ICMI Code requirement
  • Have experience in Crushing, Milling, Cyanide leaching, CIP/CIL circuit, Smelting circuit operations, gravity circuit operation, elution operation and carbon treatment, Sampling Assay and Analytical practices
  • Medically fit to work in the specific business area

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plans, executes and supervises all day-to-day process and maintenance activities in his / her area of responsibility
  • Conduct work planning and ensuring availability of resources e.g. liners, reagents etc.
  • Changes and optimises practices and procedures
  • Be accountable and responsible for ensuring the safe achievement of set safety, production, environmental and metallurgical efficiency and cost targets
  • Enforces compliance to all mandatory codes of practice as set out in the plant operational procedure e.g., safe storage and handling of chemicals, TMMs etc.
  • Ensure that the cyanidation process in the plant complies with the ICMI code of practices
  • Be responsible for maintaining housekeeping in their areas of responsibility
  • Ensure aims and objectives of the Mine’s Health & Safety Act are achieved in area of responsibility by providing and
  • maintaining an environment that is safe and without risk to the health of employees.
  • Provide accurate raw data in order to enhance the decision making process of the next upper level.
  • Ensure potential breakdowns are identified, supervised and proactively prevented
  • Enforce discipline in their areas of responsibility to employees under their charge
