The AIDS Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) is a Durban-based NGO that acts as an interface between Donors and
Community Based Organisations (CBO’s) working in the HIV/AIDS sector by placing donor funds with strategically
selected CBOs, in South Africa, and providing them with ongoing, technical support & capacity building.
The HIV Prevention Department is made up of a number of programmes that collectively aim to collective prevent
the evolution of the HIV epidemic in South Africa. See the AFSA website for more information of each of the

appoint a suitably qualified individual to fill the roles of Data Capturer in Port Shepstone and Richards Bay.
Purpose of job:
Responsible for capturing data onto the IMS (CBIMS)
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Daily Data Capturing
Perform data quality assurance and update missing data
Pull out active beneficiary reports to ensure all the previously served beneficiaries are not missed on a
Conducts data quality checks for accuracy, sign off forms as well as verifying data submitted by the quality
Collates data on to a summary tracking sheet
Uploads data collated and verified on to CBIMS
Data capturers to report on the margin of error using data capture error log sheet to keep track of the
files returned for verification.
Reports daily to Data Coordinator
Check and verify forms before capturing and manage error log
Grade 12 with tertiary education recommended
Advance Excel certification essential
2 years of experience as Data Capturer
Must have worked on CBIMS for minimum of 6 months
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel essential, Knowledge of STATA, or SPSS statistical software advantageous
Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
Strong administrative and planning skills
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and able to manager confidential information
