COMMISSIONERS (PART-TIME)

Purpose of the Job

To conduct dispute resolution processes including, but not limited to, conciliation, arbitration, con-arb, in limine, and facilitation in terms of all labour or other relevant legislation to ensure the CCMA provides efficient and effective dispute resolution, management and prevention services to the labour market.

Key performance areas:

• Conduct dispute resolution processes including, but not limited to, conciliation, arbitration, con-arb, in limine, and facilitation
• Draft settlement agreements, arbitration awards and rulings
• Complete Case Documentation and Processes
• Render Dispute Mediation management and Prevention Services

Key requirements:

• Unless a candidate can demonstrate relevant experience of not less than three to five years (3 – 5) years in Industrial Relations, Labour Law or conducting conciliations, arbitration and facilitation; a relevant NQF level 6 tertiary qualification (preferably in Labour Law) is required.
• Good knowledge of Labour Law
• Good knowledge of dispute resolution processes and principles
• Good knowledge of the Labour Market and the factors that impact on the CCMA
• A valid driver’s license
• Computer literacy
• Skills in analysis, problem-solving, the ability to exercise sound judgment
• The ability to make reasonable decisions under pressure
• Resilience in the face of conflictual circumstances
• Good listening skills
• Good communication skills
• The ability to mediate and engage conflicting parties
• Diversity Awareness

Advanced preparation on the following statutes is essential, as an initial screening assessment will be conducted: LRA, BCEA, and EEA.

Recruitment will be in a phased approach. Shortlisted applicants will be expected to write first assessment at the Provinces where they applied. First assessments will be conducted in March/April 2020. Dates will be communicated to the shortlisted applicants.

A completed CCMA endorsed Labour Dispute Resolution Practice (LDRP) qualification from one of the following CCMA partner universities will be an advantage:
