The Independent Institute of Education (IIE) offers approximately 90 registered and accredited higher education programmes across its 21 sites. These programmes range from Higher Certificate to the Master’s degree educational level.

One of these sites includes the IIE Varsity College which has a number of programmes in the faculty of Commerce, Humanities & Social Sciences, Information & Communications Technology, Law, Engineering, Science & Health and Education.

In a statement, Varsity College has confirmed that its Education Faculty has an offering of the Postgraduate Certificate in Education programme that runs for a minimum of two years on a part-time basis.

A number of both public and private institutions of higher learning offer this teaching qualification. Graduates of this qualification qualify to be Grade 7 – 12 teachers, tutors, education consultancy and may also form part of a school management (of which will require further study and/or experience).

One of the requirements of the PGCE at the IIE Varsity College include that the prospective student having obtained an approved Bachelor’s Degree, however, consideration may be given to holders of a 360 credit Diploma in appropriate and scarce fields as identified by the Department of Higher Education and Training.

If you have studied at one of South Africa’s 50 registered, public TVET colleges or at a private institution, it is best that you check whether you have enough credits or have the correct qualification for the PGCE qualification to meet the admission requirements at Varsity College.
