Position Purpose:
Position outputs:

• Maintain and repair electrical power supplies to buildings and surrounding areas within the Port (LV and HV equipment)
• Removes and replaces lamps and shades
• Inspect and maintain all current carrying components for wear, burning and connection
• Assist electricians with wiring of electronic panels and testing thereof
• Maintenance of small electrical appliances in the workshop
• Installation of medium/ high mast lighting
• Tests electrical installation
• Removes and replace faulty components
• Control the use of electrical tools and materials
• Remove and replace workshop and area light fittings
• Traces and locates simple faults on lighting circuits
• Replaces fuses and bulbs
• Cleans all electrical cables
• Places and removes electrical warning boards and/ or signs
• Removes and replaces 16A plug
• Drills through floor, walls or ceilings for electrical connection/cabling
• Carries out earthling test
• Removes and replace faulty electrical components
• Testing of electrical connections
• Checks wiring connection for safety and security
• Locates minor electrical faults
• Conduct and wire installation
• Replace lamps, starters, ballads, igniters, chokes, and clean electrical equipment
• Operate lifting equipment ( high mast winch and medium mast hydraulic equipment
• Digging of trenches and laying electric cables
• Maintenance of high medium mast lighting and equipment
• Remove and replace switches and plugs (socket outlets and installation of plug tops)
• Cleaning substations and undertaking maintenance
• Remove and replace street lights poles and maintenance fitting
• Undertake low voltage cable jointing
• Chasing of floors and walls using mechanical and electrical hand tools
• Assist artisan with major fault-finding, maintenance and repairs
• Supervise process workers assisting with maintenance and repairs
• Air conditioning and refrigeration
• Servicing of air conditioning units
• Test units for gas leaks
• Removes, clean and replaces filters/panels
• Treat air conditioning units against corrosion
• Brush painting of units/fridges
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum requirements:

Grade 12

N2 Electrical Eng

Code 10 driver’s license

2 to 3 years’ experience in the electrical field

Added Advantages:

Category C green certification

Basic air conditioning and refrigeration course

Basic medium and advance electrical courses

Competencies:

Knowledge of electrical installation and testing
