The Johannesburg Social Housing Company SOC Limited (JOSHCO) mandate is to develop and manage affordable rental
housing for the lower market as an integral part of efforts to eradicate the housing backlog of the City of Johannesburg.


JOSHCO is a registered Social Housing Institution and is accredited by the Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA).


JOSHCO invites suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for the following vacant position.


Position : Receptionist

Purpose of the Job: To ensure that visitors and customers are received in an excellent and professional manner
and that the JOSHCO reception area(s) render high quality service at all times. In addition, maintain and manage
the switchboard system effectively, and respond to all queries diligently and accurately.


Responsibilities (but not limited to the following):
 Report to reception at 7h40 – 16h15 daily (Monday – Friday) and ensure that the reception area is tidy
before customers arrive.
 Answer telephone calls, receive and direct customers to relevant departments and extensions,
where necessary take messages.
 Answer queries and provide accurate information to internal and external customers including the
general public.
 Liaise with relevant departments to acquire updated information about services/projects in t h e i r
departments
 Ensure all queries and complaints are passed on to relevant managers, immediately
 Perform professional customer service daily, ensuring maximum client satisfaction:
o Visitors should not wait longer than ten minutes
o Visitors names to be recorded in the visitor’s logbook
o Incoming mail should be signed for and distributed timeously
 Review, update and ensure distribution of an updated telephone list
 Assist the communication department with coordination on internal events
 Put up staff and public notices on the notice board as and when required
 Ensure that the reception is manned at times (get a relief at all times when not at reception).
 Ensure that all relief persons are appropriately briefed and trained on the phone systems and processes for
managing the reception area.
 Stock control and record keeping
 Adhoc administrative duties as and when required.

Minimum job Requirements, Interested applicants must be in possession of:
 Matric Certificate.
 A Post matric qualification in Office Administration, Reception/Call Centre or related field will be an advantage.
 At least 2-3 years experience as a corporate Receptionist in a clerical or administrative role required.
 Excellence and professional service in working with internal and external customers, as well as service
providers
 Typing skills (Ms Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
 Basic Report writing.
 English – read, write and speak fluent English including the meaning, spelling of words and grammar. Must
speak at least one African language

 Professional Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing professional services. This includes
customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
 Clerical – Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing,
managing files, records and other office procedures and notices.
 English Language – Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning,
spelling of words and grammar.
 Independence – Ability to perform the job with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks.
 Customer Service – Maintaining composure and a positive attitude to respond to requests and complaints in an
effective manner
 Professional Appearance & Impression – Look p ro f e s s i o n a l , appropriate clothing projecting a good image, as
the face of JOSHCO. Demonstrate JOSHCO’s corporate values by treating customers professionally and with empathy.

 Be proactive, organized, pay attention to detail and possess strategic thinking ability.
 Communicate effectively and address customers in a professional manner.
 Manage time wisely and avoid time wasting activities during official hours.
 Excellent telephone etiquette with an admirable, friendly, polite personality.

 Take responsibility when resolving issues and concerns by internal/external customers.
